Whenever we hear the phrase ‘business plan’, we tend to imagine elaborate and meticulous strategies put together to achieve a specified mission. However, the bedrock of any such business plan lies in its simplicity. In other words, you can be as strategic and complex with your business setup, but it won’t be worth a thing without a simplistic, viable idea.
Here, we look at four brands that were not just able to identify opportunities but also seized them like bosses.
- An Uber-cool Idea Uber was born out of a lived experience. Their founders actually experienced the hassle of finding public transport. This pretty much stirred up an idea in their minds to ease this aspect of life that’s applicable to so many of us. They introduced technology to the scene and found a solution to the problem at hand via an App. Now that’s inspiring.
- Market Research As Deep As The Amazon Today, Amazon is one of the biggest brands in the world. How did it get here? It started when a 30-year old Jeff Bezos decided to pursue his dream. Now, many did that, but What Jeff did was take a dream and add as much reality to it as he could – through market research. He deep dove into the online commercial market with one focussed intent – to develop a great understanding of the scenario and how he could transform it.
- Why Noodle Around When You Can Google Google is pretty much god-like in today’s world. One can’t imagine functioning without it. How did Google become a modern-day basic necessity? It all started when the founders realised how chaotic information was becoming. They identified this problem and found a solution to it by introducing ranking of search results by popularity, thus bringing clarity to a cluttered world.
- Old-school text messaging? WhatsApp with that?! “Focus on simplicity, listen to your customers and iterate if you fail.” – these were the words shared by WhatsApp founder Jan Koum who sold his business to Facebook and became a billionaire. His rags-to-riches tale is inspiring even outside the business world.
Jan, along with Brian Acton, came up with the idea of an instant messaging tool with the initial motive of letting their own friends know about movie nights and other plans. They would later realise the universal potential of this idea.
Inspired much? You go get that dream, tiger!
