What makes people great leaders? Vision, clarity, confidence, empathy, passion, drive, conviction…weakness…-confused? yes, weakness is never added to the list of ‘Characteristics of A Leader. But in fact, weakness does play a major role in shaping a leader.
People often try to hide their weaknesses instead of facing them and working on them. First and foremost if we don’t acknowledge their existence, we’ll never work on them and always remains there. We allow it to be an obstacle in our work and in life!
Here’s how you make your biggest weakness your biggest strength-
- Once you know your weaknesses, you’ll seek help. Meet people who can help you and in some way expand you and motivate you more. If you don’t embrace your weakness you will deprive yourself of such an experience.
- Help others help you. Weakness also helps you honor & embrace others’ strengths you build more channels of connection. You become an inspiration since you help others work to their best potential.
- Vulnerability also makes you stronger. If you just hide your weaknesses away, you’ll cease to grow. So take some risks even if you know it may involve exposing your weakness. That’s ok, it will give you a chance to challenge other people to help with you your weakness and it will give you an opportunity to do something with your company you’ve never done before just because you were scared of your weakness.
- Spend more time with people who can help with your weaknesses. You too might help them with theirs and that will make you a great leader.
