Top 3 Tips That Will Help Young Entrepreneurs Overcome Failure

by BNI India

Failures are a part and parcel of life. In an entrepreneur’s life though, the frequency of failures is slightly more. There is a lot at stake. Entrepreneurs, though, generally have fighting spirits, are rebellious and risk-takers and so failures are not really deal breakers for them. Yet, some young entrepreneurs who fail sometimes feel lost and have a tendency to give up on their idea completely. This might help sometimes but many times, there is a way to overcome failures and start afresh.

This blog tells you how:

  1. Reflections: Always be aware of what you are doing and what you have done in the past. A diary or a notebook with day to day wins and losses jotted down will help you trace back to things that have worked and those that have not. Reflections will always help you identify the trouble points that triggered the failure and help you be specific about what did not work. Once you are more specific you can come back with a recovery equally specific and targeted.
  2. Ask For Advice: Failures in the business world are not uncommon; some big some small, but failures are constant. So, people are always free when it comes to speaking about failures and are open to help. Your mentors will advise on you many levels right from personal discipline to work ethics. Always be open to seeking advice from entrepreneurs as young as you, they may have had similar issues. Consider talking to your colleagues too at the workplace. You may have begun the start-up but if there are senior and more experienced people working in your company, don’t hesitate to ask for their opinions on anything or for advice. Experience is wisdom, soak in it!
  3. Take Up A Job Elsewhere: Remember, failure means you are learning. So, take it in the right spirit and go do something about it. Taking a job at another company can help boost your spirits and enhance your knowledge. A job doesn’t mean a cosy desk job with a fat salary, but a one that will give you more field experience; more opportunities to learn the tricks of the trade. This experience will give you an edge over others in terms of knowledge, networking & self-confidence.
