We deal with refurbishment and sale of high-end Medical Diagnostic Equipment such as MRI machines, CT Scanners, Cath labs used at hospitals, diagnostic centres, and clinics across India.
Before starting this business 6 years ago, I was in the US, so I didn’t have any friends. When I came into contact with BNI, I thought it is a very good platform to connect with like-minded people and be friends with them. Thereby I joined BNI, least expecting any business as my field is a little unique and so is my clientele.
I met new people and my social network improved. I have referred and given business to fellow members.
But I was wrong to some extent, believe me. BNI is more than that and it works for all who trust the system, however, the trust may take time but it comes, and things work here.
After almost a year it happened. There was a client I was following for quite some time. Everything was ok in the deal but somehow it was not leading anywhere. So one day I asked about this client in my ask. And to my wonder, I was immediately connected to our chapter president Mr. Rishabh Kamani (must tell you he is a gem of the person, very clear in what he is doing and doing with full enthusiasm and energy). He said he knows the client very well and can definitely create a strong referral. He called the customer. On my next meeting itself, the client gave us the nod and said that “someone very close and known to him has referred you and has vouched for you, so positively, that I see that to be a strong reason for doing business with you.”
Initially, the deal closed at 9 crores. We went ahead and signed the maintenance agreement for the next 10 years which made the deal cross a whopping 15crores.
So my dear fellow BNI members, the system works. You just have to trust and work with it honestly. You shall reap the results and grow along with it.
