“Interdependence is a higher value than Independence”, in the Stephen R Covey’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”.
Last year when I shifted to Jaipur, I hardly knew anybody in the pink city. Within a month I thought I should be social with at least a few people in this beautiful city.
I attended chapter meeting of BNI Blue Jade, Jaipur South and found a vibrant team of 50 + entrepreneurs with full of energy and a genuine concern to help each other. Each and every member was committed to fellow members success. It was like a gold mine for me in an unknown city. Without giving it a second thought I joined BNI Blue Jade.
I started meeting fellow members just to know more about their business and in a months time, after meeting 20 odd members, I realized that I cannot give any referrals to the esteemed members of my chapter because I don’t know anyone in this town except BNI members of our chapter.
During my 1-2-1 with my fellow members, I genuinely shared my inability to pass referrals and asked them how can I help them otherwise.
I asked Members who were into manufacturing goods if they were interested in exporting their stuff. To my surprise, they were very much keen to do the same but because of documentation and unavailability of leads, they were unable to do the same.
I decided to form an interdependent team for exports, where we can club the goods in a single container and proceed with exports. We will be saving on custom clearance charges and the buyer will also save on charges. Also, a mix goods container will be easy to sell at buyers point and we could expect a faster repetition of order.
I presented this idea to the fellow members and they were all were very keen. That’s how an interdependent team of BNI Blue jade came into the picture and we were able to ship a container to South Africa with solar panels of Mr. Rajeshwar Singh Rajpurohit, office chairs of Dr Keswani, cleaning materials of Shri Prakash, granites of Mr. Ajit and door hardware from Pro-Biz India.
Looking for many more interdependent containers in the coming future.
