Why is it that when some people walk into a room, everyone goes silent? Or why is it that heads turn when someone just walks past Charisma is a unique character trait that not everybody possesses; but those who do, have success following them rather than the other way around!
Being present wherever you go enlarges your presence. Listen to people, gauge their mood and engage yourself with them accordingly. You are focussed on everything and everybody around and that reflects in the way you carry yourself, talk or dress. This focus keeps you aware and you are always in the know about things and people respect for you that.
Confidence breeds presence. How confident are you about yourself or your work? You will succeed in something only if you have conviction in it. For others to have confidence you need to be confident about yourself. That is where appearance, health, and general knowledge come into play. These factors build confidence in you and you are at your best while meeting people.
With social media ruling our lives, one has to be careful about authenticity of information. There will be people who come to you with fake news or rumours. When you know it is not true, dig deeper with curiosity. When you question more about the source of the news or information, you reflect curiosity rather than arrogance or defensive behaviour.
Work on your conversation skills. Conversing is an art and you need to master it. Right from making good eye contact to initiating conversation with strangers, a good conversationalist can really grab people’s attention. It shows you have confidence, that you are in the know-how of many things, you are curious & that you care about what and how other people think.
Don’t think too much and just start a conversation with an aim to make the other person comfortable and gather more information rather than just for pretense.
